Fall is in the air!

Happy Birthday week to Nathan, this weeks star student!

3rd grade has been busy, busy! Our daily schedule and routines are falling into place. It's nice to get through the first few weeks of school. It seems that everyone is feeling more comfortable in our big new school. We have already completed Unit 1 in both math and health.

A few things to cover...

1. Story summaries will be coming home on Mondays and are due on Thursdays. Encourage the students to read the story with expression. A good story teller always uses expression!
2. The fundraiser is off and running. Good luck selling!
3. Library is on day 3 - don't forget to bring library books back each week. Watch "The Buzz" newsletter for a reminder on which day of the week day 3 falls on.

1 week down, lots to go!

We had a great first week of school! We have 26 students in our class - 14 boys & 12 girls. We are on the top floor of the school, in the 3rd grade pod. Our class learned a lot about each other this week and what to expect in 3rd grade. I think everyone is excited to be a Northpoint Star! Has your student explained to you how they could win a pizza party with Mr. Callahan?
Enjoy your first "school" weekend. See you on Monday!

First Day of School at Northpoint!

The students ran off the bus, just before the rain started to pour down this morning! It was an exciting day filled with learning new routines, routes & faces of our school. It was exciting getting to know one another in our classroom. Today we learned about our agendas. I hope the students were eager to share them with you at home tonight. The blue cover sheet explains the instructions. These will come back and forth with the students everyday. Please sign your child's agenda each night and feel free to write comments to me. I will be checking them every morning.

I am looking forward to a great year with a great new group of 3rd graders! At the end of the day, 12 yellow buses pulled up to take the students home. We lucked out again, the rain held off. What a great first day of school!
